ASALMS Results from the “Governors Cup 150” at The Milwaukee Mile

August 28, 2006 - Denver, CO
Rachel Dickinson – JECO MotorSports

JECO MotorSports loaded up the #108 Dodge Charger late model driven by Bear Lynch,
and headed to Milwaukee, WI for it’s rookie debut in the ASALMS. The ASA Late Model Series,
Challenge Division features some of the toughest drivers and most challenging tracks found
in late model touring today. Although the team failed to qualify for the race, the
“Governors Cup 150”, the weekend was still positively viewed as a stepping stone and a
learning experience.

Friday afternoon, as the car was being unloaded for practice, the rain began to fall on
the 1-mile oval track located just outside Milwaukee in West Allis, WI. Lengthy delays due
to track drying and re-scheduling set a rushed practice session back approx. three hours.
By days end, driver of the JECO MotorSports 2006 Dodge Charger, Bear Lynch sat in 25th spot
for practice times out of the 43 cars that took to the track. The car was suffering from a
“tight” driving condition as the crew hurried to beat the darkness and the rains that
loomed over the track.
Saturday morning, following a brief technical inspection, one last hour of practice was
given to the teams to prepare for qualifying. After finding a mechanical failure within the
suspension from the previous day’s practice, the JECO Dodge went directly from the prior
practices “tight” condition to an extremely “loose” condition. In trying to adjust to the
brand new car, radial tires, and an unfamiliar track, the crew definitely had it’s hands
full while driver, Bear Lynch tried to adjust to the new car and track as well.
The end result of qualifying was a failure to make the 32 car starting field (26 in by time
/ 6 in by provisionals) by the JECO team. Although disappointed, the experience was well
worth the effort. The competition level, professionalism, and entire experience at the
ASALMS in Wisconsin was enough to make the team even more determined and optimistic for
the next event.
Bear Lynch drives for JECO MotorSports, a Primarily Un-Sponsored Late Model, ProTruck,
Figure-8, and Super Stock team out of Denver, CO. Associate sponsors the team would like
to thank are Arizona Bag Co. and Dyno Pro Inc.
